An Imperfect Offering

沒上書局幾天想不到有這麼多好看的書上架了. 包括Alain De Botton的新書!!!!!
最重要的當然是Dr Orbinski的書, 等了一年, 終於在香港買得到.
上年電影節期間寫的:
Profound (Sunday, March 23, 2008)
Unless I have properly written about it, I don't think I can work properly.

Today's schedule:
1030 Fados
1800 Triage: Dr James Orbinski's Humanitarian Dilemma

As I expected, the documentary about Dr Orbinski is extremely inspiring. He's an exceptional person. Yes, he's the combination of a cynic and an optimist. What he said is like movie plotline but it's something that actually happened! I also like his honesty. He has his own way of seeing humanitarianism and he's a firm believer in it. He's much more a doer tha a talker. That's what most people can't do. He's not after a perfect system but an immediate response to the needs of people.

I really like what he said about the uncontainable rage. It's not going to help just to feel bad (the profound sorrow, in his words) about the humanitarian crisis that happened/are happening/will happen in the world. You have to feel the outrage AND THEN do something about it. He also stressed the out-of-the-system role of humanitarian relief. It's necessary to do things unconventionally in order to achieve the desired results.

Realized something really important after watching it. Besides THE ability that most people care about, can't really ignore physical strength AND mental strength. I've got some goals for myself.

He's REALLY an exceptional person!!!!!!! His memoir will be released soon!!!

* I'm kind of glad that Dr Orbinski didn't go back to the Balkans. Otherwise I would probably have a total breakdown right in the theatre.

** Fados is also great. But I'm too tired to write about it.

*** My progress on the PIL assignment is seriously behind schedule. But it worths it and I'll catch up!

**** A bit upset about not getting a ticket to MOAG. Afterall it's quite special....................
